ReplyDeleteI think that we should carry our things by ourselves.At home, we can help to do household chores whenever we have time!Simple things like washing our own cups ,we do not need to wait for our family members or maids to do it.They may have their own chores to do.We can do it by ourselves too!Independence!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe must be independent and carry our own school bags. If your maid helps you, you are not independent! Maybe if someone ask you to carry your own bag you do not know how to carry your bag! If there is a World War III we will be dead! So we MUST be independent!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSomtimes I carry my school bag and sometimes I ask my mother to help me carry my bag because it is so heavy but in return, I also sometimes help my mother with the chores like cooking. After reading others' comments and the post, I learnt that I must not always depend on my mother or anyone to help me do easy things that I can do on my own. I also agree with what Jia Jun said.
ReplyDeleteThe NSMan in the picture is pampered by his maid.Imagine a soldier carrying a bag such as the one in the picture , woudn't the soldier be able to carry it? Of course.The maid must be really tired carrying such a large bag. I think the soldier is very lazy to carry his own bag and giving his responsibility to his maid. The moral lesson of the picture is to be independent not dependent.

He should be independent. Sometimes, my mother carries my bag but I told her not to and sometimes, I also helps her to do house chores.

Now as maid or mother helped us to carry our heavy school bags, we must thank them. When we grow up, we should carry bags even they are heavy so you could be independence in any weight of bags! in emergency, you will know how to help others too1

I saw this picture a few weeks ago and I thought that it was a embarrassing thing to do. Although I'm younger than the soldier, I know how to carry my bag by myself as I don't want my parents to be tired. The soldier gave bad impression to parents as they do not want to have their children to be the same as the soldiers. I hope that the soldier will turn over a new leaf and do not do such things again.

In my opinion, a domestic helper is just to help with the house chores, we have to be independent enough to take care of our needs and daily routine.This is the basic personal requirement inorder for us to contribute ourselves to our society when we grow up.
Soldiers are trained to be independent and trained to protect our country.If they cannot do such a simple thing themselves, how can they protect our country?If during a war, they ask their maids to carry their bags, why don't ask their maids to go to war?

We should learn to be independent and we should not rely on our helper.The soldier in the picture above is setting a bad example we should not be like him as soldiers should not ask their helper to help them carry their own bags as soldiers can undergo such tough training to protect us but Why can't they carry their bags? It will not be as tough as the training they undergo isn't it.
ReplyDeleteNS men are trained to be strong and fit.But as you can see here in this picture, this soldier is busy with something on his phone while his domestic helper carries his field pack.Upon seeing this picture, those other soldiers who have worked hard and ARE carrying their own field packs would think this soldier as a disgrace to the army.If more soldiers are doing the same thing as the soldier shown in the picture,they might as well bring their domestic helpers to train for NS, too.

ReplyDeleteWe need to be independent since we are young.Once you grow up,you will always be independent and do your things yourselves.Never be like the NS boy who is depending on others.Although we have a domestic helper at home,we should not depend on them.We should always think about their sacrifices towards us and their help.We should also help them in the chores.Remember!Always be responsible in the future.

If Singapore is filled with this kind of man serving the NS then wouldn't all the maid in the family be scared of them?
ReplyDeleteSoldiers fit and strong! But what's this??? A domestic helper helping to carry a fit, strong and trained soldier's bag??!! No way!!! If the soldier does not carry his own bag, he will not know what it feels like, or even how heavy it is. During a war, he would be pulled down by the weight of the bag while running, and the enemies will capture him in no time. Everyone, DO YOU THINK WE CAN RELY ON HIM DURING A WAR???

Indeed, like what Kai Wen shared, our nation depends and relies on its people to protect ourselves. Remember: NO one owes us a living and WE, ourselves, must protect Singapore. Do not be overly reliant on your parents. You need to grow up:) Are you washing your own school shoes now?

ReplyDeleteThe full-time national serviceman (NSF) who was photographed with his maid carrying his backpack identified himself to his commander and has been counselled, said Singapore's Ministry of Defence on Monday.
"The serviceman concerned has identified himself to his Commander."
"He was a recruit undergoing the Physical Training Preparatory phase prior to the Basic Military Training phase.
"The recruit is remorseful for his actions and realises that it was wrong for him to have allowed this.
"He has been counselled and continues his training. The SAF has reminded all servicemen to be mindful of their conduct in public."
