Mr Tay gave a very meaningful assembly talk today about giving and showing compassion.
I remember a sharing given by a friend. He asked, "Do you want to have the capacity to give or do you want to receive? Which one is more blessed?" That set me thinking. Wherever and whenever we can, we should give. It takes us little effort to brighten people's days :)))
5A, given an opportunity to share compassion, what do you wish to do?
You may want to visit http://kindness.sg/explore/kindness-stories to read kindness stories too. Let us make our society a more gracious one.
If I am given an opportunity to share compassion, I will try my best to help people to need my help.Sometimes, I may not able to help out. Once, when I was in the MRT train and I sitted at the reserved seat, I saw an elderly and gave out my seat. Even thought my legs were pain,I was still grinning from ear to ear as i had done a good deed.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given an opportunity to share compassion, I will help people by accompanying them. There was a time when my best friend, Nur Aleeza, had a high fever and could not come to school for a week. I thought that Aleeza needed someone to accompany her so I called her. She said that she was bored staying at home so we chatted for a while. She also asked me some questions about school and I was willing to tell her. I think that she was happy that I called her and chat with her or else she would just lie on her bed and do nothing. I also felt happy that I did a compassionate thing.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given a chance to share my joy with others, showing compassion to others. Whatever i have, i will try to share it with others. There was a thing that is deeply etched in my mind. It happens like that... During that period of time the Malays were fasting.I remember clearly it was a Friday as we were having fitness Friday.I was the attendance taker so i would be a bit of late for this activity. But i left my bag... but when i came back, i saw my best friend,Haslinda who was a Muslim helped me carry my bag. I was very touched by the scene. I am not sure if this is consider as compassion but Haslinda is a caring and helpful friend. :) She helps me in my English(my poorest subject):p
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion, I would help those who are in need, even though they are strangers.I remember one time, when I been knocked on my arm by a student from school, Han Yi Lin kept on asking(out of kindness) whether I am alright even though I already told her I am alright.I think Han Yi Lin is very commpassinate as she always help those who are in need.If everybody was like her, life would be peaceful without trouble.
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion, I would like to collect money to help those who are suffering crisis in other countries as other countries are less fortunate than Singapore, which is quite a safe place to live in.
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion,i would help people that are in need.I would go to the old folks home once a week and accompany the elderly.I would also lend a helping hand to my classmate that need my help.If everyone in this world have compassion, this world will be peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion,I will help people around me. For instance, if my friends need help in their homework, I will do my best to help them.If every one of us lends a helping hand, this world will be peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIf i have an opportunity to share compassion, I would donate money to the needy one. They need money to buy better clothes and food.

If I have an opportunity to share compassion,I would help people who are in need. There was once I went shopping with my mother and saw an elderly woman when some of her coins dropped. When I saw it I actually pretended not to see it and walk away but something strike my mind as my mother taught me to be a compassionate person and I went to help the old woman. At first, the elderly woman thought that I was going to steal her money and started scolding me but after I have picked up all the coins that she had dropped and gave back to her. Her frown became a smile, she praised me for helping her and told my mother about the incident. That day I kept on smiling. After that day, I told myself to help as many people as I can, as there is an idiom that says:A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed.
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion, I would share my notes to my friends if they were absent so they can cathch up on lessons they missed.
ReplyDeleteIf I have a opportunity to share my compassion, I would help people around me. Like in class, if anybody needs my help in homework or needs a pen or pencil i will lend them the pen or pencil and teach them how to do their homework. A very good example is XuNuo. He helps people with their work and there was once i forgotten to bring my correction tape so he lend me his one. I wished Singaporeans will be like that but unfortunately Singaporean is not. I think that we are not so gracious. People will turn a blind eye when a elderly came into the train! We should let our sits for the elderly and not to turn a blind eye! If Singaporean and other people are gracious or have kindness, the world would be PERFECT! Let us lend a helping hand for those who need help!
ReplyDeleteif I was given a chance to share my compassion, I will share it with the poor people. This is beacause they can show others what they can do and what they are good at.
ReplyDeleteSorry, i am qin jin.
ReplyDeleteIf i was given a chance to show my compassion, i will donate some money to the poor. There once, i went to Hat Yai which is at Thailand, i saw a disable man who was climbing up to the stairs. He did not give up and continued climbing , my parents who was moved by him, donated 1000 Baht. So, we must lend a helping hand to people who need!
ReplyDeleteIf i was given a chance to show my compassion, I will donate things to the people who need it more than me. There was once when a man came and asked my family if we want to donate something for the people. He said that we can donate things like newspaper or unused clothes. We did donated some newspaper and I learnt that helping is the best and good deed ever!
ReplyDeleteIf i was given a chance to show my compassion, i will donate my money tosome less fortune people. There was once when i went to Sun Plaza with my family,i saw a less fortune old uncle selling tissue papers to the passer-bys.I notice that most of them rejected him.I remembered that i was given $2 dollars to buy my favourite ice-cream as i has taken good care of my younger sister when my parents are working and my brother is studing.I take out the note thinking that if i should donate it or buy my favourite ice-cream.If i donate my money i'll have to sacrify my favourite ice-cream,but if i don't i can buy my ice-cream.At last, i decided to donate my money to that uncle and sacrify my ice-cream.After donating the money,i felt so happy.I think helping is the best thing in the world!!
ReplyDeleteIf I have something interesting to show or talk about,I would share it with my best friends. In return for my frienship, they too would share me something.Imagine helping someone, and it changed you and that person's life. That person in future may even become your friend! So show compassion and kindness to everyone who needs it much more.
ReplyDeleteIf i have a chance to help,I will try my best and help.I do not mind giving and donating at any time but I seldom find chances to help.
ReplyDeleteIf I have an opportunity to share compassion,I would help people who are in need, especially the elderly.Once when my mother and I were in train,I saw that when the people saw an elderly carrying heavy bags, they will either pretend to read books, sleep or pretend not to see.So I gave up my seat to the elderly.Although I am tired, but the the elderly needs the seat more then me.After giving up the seat, I am very happy as I have done a good deed.
ReplyDeleteIf I got a chance to share compassion, I will help anyone who is in trouble, even my emenies. I have helped a boy in 5B named Ivan. During the June holidays, our rugby team have a camp. Ivan was injured on his right leg, he cannot even walk! That day I have carrried him on my back for a very long time, even through my back hurts, I just want him to be fine.
ReplyDeleteHanYiLin was a nice person(even through she is a girl and is one of my "emenies" on studies). I fell while running during sports day. My arm was badly hurt, she just kept on asking me if I am okay, she even gave her own 100plus drink.
If everyone on earth was as nice as her, the world will be full of friends.
XuNuo
If I have a chance to show compassion, I will do it for the sake of helping out, not because I want to show off. There was once I saw an old woman crossing the road. She had loads of plastic bags full of groceries, and by her expression, i could tell that she needed help. Suddenly, a teen girl in her uniform rushed up to the lady and offered her help in chinese. She took the bags from the old lady, and also brought her acroos the street.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the act of kindness, I thought that the school girl was very thoughtful of her. I think her as a role model to me. I would not say I am very kind, yet also not selfish, but I hope and would like to helping out more. And if people were all like that girl, the world would not be so corrupted, full of selfish and greedy people. - Haslinda
If I have a chance to show compassion, I would help the needy by donating money to charity.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given a opportunity to show compassion, I will try my best to help others in need: donate some money to the charity to help the poor and needy, help and teach others with their work if they do not understand or even lend a helping hand to the ones who fall. There was once my mother, sister and I were on our way back home from my cousin's house on a bus and I had a seat. I saw a old man carrying something heavy and I decided to give up my seat for him. I signalled to him if he would like to sit down instead. But he declined my offer and said that it was okay as he was reaching his destination soon. I would want to help more people in need and I hope that everyone could also do their part as lending a helping hand does not cost.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given opportunity to show compassion, I will stand up for the right person. I remembered that once, I saw my friend being bullied. I asked her, "Who hit you?". She said it was the bully. I was angry and wanted to stood up for her, we immediately rushed to school and coincidenly, we saw him. I scolded him and also threatened him not to bit up my friend. He was scared and did not dare to hit anybody again.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given the opportunity to show compassion, I will help people in need. There was once when I was out with my family for dinner, we saw an old man who suffered from a stroke selling tissue paper. My mother immediately took $2 out from her wallet and bought the tissue paper. If everyone lend a helping hand, Earth will be a better place to live in.
ReplyDeleteIf I am given the opportunity to show compassion, I would help those in need. Once, my family and I decided to donate some old clothes and money to some poor people. Their smiles made me glad and sometimes, they even give me presents! Although I would have willingly taken it, I knew that they were poor people and I decided to turn down their generous offer. If only people in this world are as good as them, who knows what might happen?-Roebhic
ReplyDeleteIf I am given the chance to show compassion,I would lend a helping hand to those in need and even help my friends in their work,a friend in need is a friend indeed!
